Difference Between Text, Context
What's the difference between text, context, and discourse?
"Text" is written material. We discuss the text when we study a novel, drama, or short story. You might even call a letter to someone a text.
"Context" refers to the situation or circumstances in which a
sentence,
paragraph, or word can be read. Context
can determine what is appropriate and correct.
"Discourse" can mean spoken conversation or a written discussion of a single topic.
